Participants spend about (20) minutes a day prayerfully reading and reflecting on an assigned section of the Scriptures. Questions in the study guide direct the reflection, while the commentary provides solid Catholic scholarship that leads to deeper understanding of the Scriptures. Participants gather weekly to pray and then break into small groups share their responses to the assigned questions. A brief lecture follows the small group discussion to clarify the themes of the lesson.
Four essential elements daily personal study, personal and shared prayer, small group sharing and a wrap-up lecture lend balance to the study of Scripture. Little Rock Scripture Study's unique combination of study and prayer allows the information studied and the formation of prayer to lead to a transformation of faith to an active and dynamic faith that has meaning and application to people's lives and overflows to renew their parish community. WINTER STUDY: The Letter to the Hebrews
Seven sessions: January 5, 12, 19 & 26, and February 2, 9, & 16
The text as it has been passed down to the present time is internally anonymous, though ancient title headings often attribute it to the Apostle Paul. Tradition attributes the letter to Paul, but the style is noteably different from the rest of Paul's epistlesMost scholars today believe the document was written to prevent apostasy , or the abandonment of the faith by first century converts. Therefore the author writes, "Let us hold fast to our confession"
LENTEN STUDY: The Passion and Ressurection Narratives of Jesus
Seven sessions: February 23; March 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30; and April 6
