Children’s Religious Education

Children’s Religious Education programs at St. Robert Parish are focused on sacramental preparation. Classes are offered for students in K5 – 8th grade on Sunday mornings, from 9:45am-10:45am, at St. Robert School.

First Reconciliation and Eucharist

Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist is done in an all-parish program involving families whose children attend parochial school and those whose children attend public school who are enrolled in our Religious Education Program. It is a family-centered program in which parents play a very important role in their child’s formation, as the primary teachers of the faith. The program includes large group preparation sessions, home study materials, a prayer service for First Reconciliation in late fall or early winter, and liturgical celebration (“First Communion”) in the spring.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

Starting this fall of 2025, St. Robert is excited to offer Catechesis of the Good Shepherd for all children ages 3 – 6. Sunday morning or weeknight options are available.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is a Montessori-based Catholic faith formation program that nurtures a child’s relationship with God through hands-on engagement with Scripture and liturgy. Rooted in the belief that God and the child are already in relationship, CGS offers a scared space called the atrium, where children work with carefully designed materials to reflect on the life of Jesus, the parables, and the sacraments. Through this quiet, prayerful environment, children encounter the Good Shepherd and grow in faith at their own pace.

CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD

St. Robert provides Children’s Liturgy of the World to children in K4 – 1st Grade at the 8:30am Family Mass. Prior to the first reading, children are invited to the altar for a blessing, then led from the main church to the Community Room downstairs. There, they hear the Word of God in terms appropriate to their age. They return to church before Communion.
