Human Concerns – Care, Service, and Prayer
Human Concerns
St. Robert meets the needs of the Parish community, and the larger Shorewood and world communities, through a variety of ministries of Care, Service, and Prayer. Contributions of time, talent and treasure are always appreciated, and there are activities for virtually any mix of interests, skills and abilities. A sampling of Human Concerns includes:

Homebound Ministry
Are you unable to attend Mass and long to receive the Lord’s true presence in the Eucharist? Homebound Communion visits are a cherished practice that brings the Holy Eucharist to those who are unable to attend Mass for any variety of reasons, both short term and long term.
If you or someone you know is interested in being brought Holy Communion please reach out to parish coordinator Kate Schuering, at homebound@strobert.org or leave a message at the parish office at (414) 332-1164.
MINISTRIES OF SERVICE
St. Martin de Porres Food Pantry / Share-A-Meal
Share-A-Meal collection baskets in the church support the St. Martin de Porres food pantry. You can find out more about our partnership with the St. Martin de Porres food pantry here.
Ladies of Charity
The mission of the Ladies of Charity in Milwaukee is to clothe school-aged children. School social workers determine the clothing needs of a family and send them to their store with a voucher. We make sure that children have new underwear and socks and nearly-new clothing for the school year. For more details, visit their website.
Respect for Life Committee
Please see our Committee page here.
St. Vincent de Paul Society
Please see our Conference page here.
St. Jude School, Uganda
For over 15 years, St. Robert has partnered with St. Jude Primary School in rural Uganda. Learn more here.
MINISTRIES OF PRAYER
Prayer Network
A network of St. Robert parishioners prays daily for intentions submitted each week. The Prayer Network could be compared to the four men who carried the paralytic to Jesus (Mark 2:1-12). Members receive the requests once a week unless the need is more urgent. If you have a serious need you would like lifted up in prayer, please email your request to prayernetwork@strobert.org.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Do you knit or crochet? Would you like to help someone in need of prayer? Makers of these special, hand-knit shawls pray before the shawl is made, pray while working on the shawl, and pray after it is finished. When completed, the shawl is given to someone in need of prayer. Shawls are available in the back of church or the parish office. For more information contact Debe Dannecker in the parish office.
Seven Sisters Apostolate
The Seven Sisters Apostolate is a call to strengthen the Church by ensuring that a Holy Hour is prayed each day of the week for the sole intention of a specific priest or bishop—a “holy wasting” (cf. Mt. 26:10) or lavishing of prayer for his deeper conformity to Christ. Women at St. Robert Parish make up two groups – one for each of our parish priests. For more information on the Apostolate visit sevensistersapostolate.org. If you would like to get involved with the Seven Sisters at St. Robert, please contact Elizabeth Zimmer.
