St. Martin de Porres Food Pantry
St. Martin de Porres Food Pantry
Through our partnership with the St. Martin de Porres Food Pantry, we endeavor to grow together with fellow Catholics sharing our gifts and needs, both similar and different. In doing so we hope to build a bridge between our neighborhood and St. Martin’s neighborhood.
St. Martin de Porres’ Food Pantry is located near 2nd and Burleigh in Milwaukee. In this neighborhood about 30 percent of residents are living in poverty, having to make hard choices between food, health care, heat, and rent. To help alleviate the pain of poverty, St. Robert co-sponsors St. Martin de Porres Parish’s Food Pantry. Last year, the Pantry served 450 children and 1,150 adults, representing approximately 1,350 households in the parish neighborhood.
Over the past year, St. Robert donated approximately 7,500 pounds of food to St. Martin de Porres food pantry to go along with the 26,465 pounds of food received from Hunger Task Force. For more information, please read this Catholic Herald article on the Food Pantry from a few years ago.
